Tree Care at Old Mill Green

  • Old Mill Green 860 Boston Avenue Bridgeport, CT, 06610 United States (map)

Volunteer to help with mulching, staking, light pruning, and weeding of invasive species for the newly planted trees at Old Mill Green on Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. No experience necessary! All tools and equipment provided.

Background

Old Mill Green is an 8-acre public green space straddled by Boston Avenue, and bordering the East Side and Upper East Side neighborhoods of Bridgeport. Last year, Groundwork Bridgeport and volunteers planted a total of 60 trees at the site and this past Spring we planted an additional 45 trees at the site. These tree plantings will eventually create a continuous tree canopy on the site, and offer many environmental benefits to the community, by improving air quality, cooling the air, reducing flooding, and increasing people’s overall physical and mental wellness.
