Join us for our monthly book club! For July, we are reading Daniel James Brown’s Boys in the Boat, the inspiring true story of the University of Washington men’s rowing teams’ journey to competing in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, where they narrowly eked out a win over Nazi Germany. The story describes these young athletes overcoming the tribulations of the Great Depression and the power of sport to bring them together. There is a film adaptation in production right now, so this is the perfect time to give this tale of perseverance a read then come discuss it with your fellow readers and community members at Groundwork Bridgeport.
