We will again be working with community volunteers to clean up a community green space on Bridgeport's East Side! We had a great time cleaning up the site with 20+ volunteers last time, but there is still work to be done.
Located next to Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School, this site was originally designed as a public space and butterfly garden that would serve as an outdoor classroom for the students and a green getaway for local residents. Over the years the site has been overtaken by invasive plants, litter, and a fallen tree, but we are working to revitalize the space so that local students and residents can enjoy it again. We will be planting native shrubs and wildflowers there in the fall, but first we'd like you to join us in cleaning it up!
The site is located at 553 Helen St., Bridgeport, CT 06608, and there is parking available on Helen St. or in the lot behind Luis Munoz Marin Elementary off of Boston Ave.
We will provide gloves, trash bags and grabbers, gardening tools, and some refreshments, so you don't need to bring anything but some sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Click here to sign up!
