Seaside Park BioBlitz

  • Seaside Park Bandshell 1 Barnum Dyke Bridgeport, CT, 06604 United States (map)

Click here to sign up to join Groundwork Bridgeport and our friends the Farmington River Stewards for a BioBlitz at Seaside Park! In case you’ve never heard of it before, a BioBlitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species of plants and animals as possible within a designated location and time period. Citizen science efforts like this one have helped research scientists solve important ecological questions that would otherwise be difficult to answer, and they’re a fun way to engage with the ecology and biodiversity of a given area. Help us find, photograph, and identify plant and animal species around Seaside Park. No previous plant or animal identification experience is required!

We will meet at 10AM by the bandshell and go over how the event will operate before starting the blitz! We will explore multiple habitat features like intertidal rocks, sand, and marsh as well as the field and forested areas of the park, searching for both aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and wearing weather-appropriate clothing, and you may want to bring water shoes and a bathing suit if you’d like to explore in/near the water!

Parking is available in the park for annual park sticker holders. You may also be able to find street parking nearby if you don't have a park sticker, but be sure to read parking signs carefully!
