Please come volunteer with us to steward the Helen Street Green Space this year! Stewardship events will be held on July 16th, July 23rd and August 27th, 2023. The events will run from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on each of the dates.

Background: The Helen Street Green Space is a public green space located adjacent to Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School in Bridgeport’s East Side Neighborhood. Since Spring 2022, Groundwork has been working to revitalize this space, and activate it as a butterfly garden, educational space, and as a place of refuge for East Side residents to enjoy. Through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and TD Bank, Groundwork Bridgeport will host stewardship events as well as two tree giveaway events for East Side residents this year. With the stewardship events, we will continue the revitalization of this space, and with the tree giveaway events, we hope to expand the urban tree canopy throughout the East Side neighborhood.
